“I believe in the voice of the people.”

Marijuana has endless benefits to human beings. This we know. The government may not want to admit it, but they know also. Why do you think they CURRENTLY dispense “medical marijuana” on the tax payers dime to four people with ailments that range from Glaucoma to Multiple Sclerosis to Multiple Congenital Cartilaginous Exostoses. If that last one sounds kind of familiar, it should. It’s the disease our good friend Irvin Rosenfeld has been living with since he was ten years old. Ask him and he’ll be happy to tell you, cannabis saved his life. It’s beyond me why this is even an issue. I understand that perhaps the government doesn’t want to go back on over 80 years of marijuana prohibition. As much as that is going to inevitably make them look like huge raging hypocrites, it’s not like that’s the first time it’s happened. As awesome and as free as we like to think this great country of ours is, our government does some shady messed up junk. So it’s no surprise that they are clinging onto every last nano thread of the whole reefer madness mind state, which only serves to hinder our potentially great nations progress. Ask local law enforcement, the ones who are well educated know how much of a waste of time it is busting people who smoke marijuana. Ask doctors, the ones who are well educated will tell you that marijuana is one of the safest substances known to man. Where else can you get such amazing medicinal properties, awesome preventative and relaxation properties with zero side effects? Marijuana my friends. Marijuana.

“There is no basis for what they’re afraid of.”

Homeopathy = Bad

Marijuana = Good

Has anyone looked at it from this point of view yet? I was driving back home safely (with a BUNCH of marijuana in my system I might add, completely in control and safe), from taking Sandy back home after the podcast, and it occurred to me. We all agree that marijuana has medical properties, both preventative and to help ease a long list of symptoms, with zero negative side effects, yet federally it is still illegal. Homeopathy on the other hand, states it can cure a long list of ailments (which there is absolutely zero scientific evidence for), and if you follow the homeopathic guide of how “like cures like,” basically after the long dilution process called potentisation (which incorrectly states the more times you dilute the “remedy,” the stronger it becomes because of the “memory” the water has), what you are left with on a 12C dilution is a 60% chance of ONE molecule of the original remedy in the solution. Basically this is a completely ridiculous unscientific belief that exploits people to make money. Of course to get at the average 30C “potency” they will then continue to dilute this down 18 more times. Of course, by that point there is absolutely NOTHING left in your solution other than the water itself, so all you are doing is diluting water with water. Guess what that makes? Yep, plain old water.

Any effect felt from using homeopathic remedies is strictly placebo, and even that is questioned by some. My point is, that if this Alternative Medicine industry is able to function and sell people remedies that have no basis in science (Homeopathy, Chiropractic Subluxations, Crystal and Faith Healing, etc…), and have proven zero efficacy (quite the opposite actually, many times has homeopathy been proven to be completely ineffective), basically ripping off the people that buy their snake oil. Yet this plant that has actual, legitimate medical benefit, as both a preventative and a medicine to treat a long list of ailments, not to mention all of its therapeutic relaxation properties, yet anyone who smokes it is considered a “second class citizen” and a “criminal” by the federal government and even by some state governments. Meanwhile lets keep in mind the federal government is currently prescribing medical marijuana to 4 people.

“The sale of marijuana for medical purposes is illegal under federal law.”

Here is our marijuana podcast. We hope you enjoy it and learn something. Marijuana is an amazing plant with amazing properties. We should use it to it’s maximum capabilities. Marijuana is safe, much safer than alcohol and most, if not all prescription medications. We should encourage it’s use. Either way, if you want it or not, the point is that you are free and able to make that choice. I honestly feel the government is over stepping it’s bounds here. I understand, back in the day when we didn’t know anything about cannabis, it was good to study it. But there have never been any negative effects found, so why are you treating it like it’s nuclear material? You should be treating it like aspirin. You cannot win this war, and making criminals out of normal hard working people is a very unproductive way of governing.

“We’re trying to progress not regress, let’s keep that in mind.”

So the people have spoken… a little over 6 years ago, when 62% of the voters voted to pass Initiative 148 here in Montana. Since then, there has been a wonderful new industry blossoming in Montana, an industry that is giving new jobs to people who had previously lost there’s. It is putting to good use a lot of the empty buildings that we all see dotting our communities. Sick people get the medicine they need, and in many cases, are able to begin stepping down off a lot of the harmful medications they may be taking. Over all, I’d say that since Initiative 148 passed, we have seen a lot of positive things happen. That’s all well and good, but as we discuss in this episode of the Hot Box, there is a move to completely repeal the Montana Medical Marijuana initiative which would essentially make criminals out of good honest hard working, pain suffering citizens. This is completely unacceptable. The voters spoke and YES, this IS what we voted for. Please stop saying it isn’t like you speak for everyone. Let’s take a quick look at a recent poll over at the Flathead Beacon. As of writing this on Sunday, February 6th 2011 at 4:03 pm Mountain Time Zone, the poll states, “Should the Legislature Repeal Montana’s Medical Marijuana Law?” Yes – 75 votes, No – 265 votes. So just in this little tiny cross section of Flathead Beacon readers, we see an overwhelming majority opposed to Medical Marijuana repeal in Montana. How can they go through with something like this? It seems that when it was taken to a vote, all 5 democrats voted against HB-161 and all 10 republicans voted for it. Are you serious? I am having a real hard time understanding how anyone can vote to repeal something that so many Montana’s have worked so hard to make reality. It’s mind blowing to me that we allow our public servants to push us around like this. This is simply unacceptable. Like I said before, all repealing this law is going to do is make criminals and outlaws out of good, honest, hard working pain suffering citizens. That is NOT OK.
