Ep 54: The Law of Mat

“Just so you all know, we’re going to abide by the law.”

I hope you all enjoy this episode and appreciate the time Sandy and I take out of our week to bring you this content. I apologize for the quality of the interview with Mason Tvert, Denver’s internet seemed to be having some problems keeping up with all the State of the Union tweets. Anyways, he had a lot of good information on how to further educate the people. If you want to check out what Mason and his crew are doing, go to SaferChoice.org. It seems like a really smart angle to take on the whole cannabis debate. Logically, if you have one substance that is legal, and one substance that is illegal, yet the illegal substance is safer not only for the individual, but for the whole community, then it should be common sense that the safer substance would be just as legal, if not more, than the substance that is detrimental. Of course once you take into account the 80 plus years of negative cannabis propaganda, it becomes clear to see why everyone is having such a hard time realizing what many of us have years ago. I understand if you are told something is bad for you over and over again, especially by those who govern you, and you never get the balls to try it yourself and come to your own conclusions, then you will of course have that negative perspective on the substance. But if you keep an open mind, and look at the world around you, and see how many people have been smoking for how many years, and none of us have suffered any negative effects, whether at the communal level, or at the individual level, you have to question what those in power are shoveling down your throats. If it tastes like shit, then chances are it’s probably shit you’re eating. So we keep repeating the same statistics and showing all of the people with medical conditions cannabis has actually helped, and hopefully one day all of our efforts will pay off. Until then, stay safe, and blaze one!

— Happy State of the Union. I’m glad some of you could peel yourselves away from the tv and twitter to join us this evening. Watch us do this show live every Tuesday and Saturday at 7pm PT. 10pm ET.

— Seeings how I need to write more, I’ll be taking over the show notes for the time being. Sure, I have plenty of time. If you enjoy the show, and want to contribute, email info@hotboxpodcast.com with news stories from your locale.

— Let’s check in with the great state of Montana, and all breath a collective sigh that HB-33 did not pass. This would have basically made it so that if you smoke pot, or have smoked pot, or have pot in your system, you would no longer be allowed to drive. How ridiculous is that? Let’s recap one more time. You can have marijuana in your system and not be impaired. Don’t drive impaired, that’s common sense.

— Shout out to the Kalispell Wrap n Roll. If you go in there, get some awesome food, and be sure to grab yourself a couple of Hot Box stickers. Thanks Mike!

— Thanks to Berger for sending this one in. Let’s discuss how inefficient drug sniffing dogs can be. Let me get this straight, you sniffed 16 vehicles and NONE of them had drugs? That’s not a very good average.

— Mason from Safer Choice calls in to talk about the good work they are doing in Colorado. Montana, here is where you should take note. If you want to copy what another state is doing, copy what Mason and Safer Choice are doing. Sorry again about the quality. We pride ourselves on how good our show sounds. He calls back on a cell phone and we finish the interview properly. Thanks again Mason!

— I am not a fan of alcohol, meanwhile Sandy drinks with a purpose. If you’ve ever had a reason to drink, you’ll know that never ends up good. Pot tastes so much better, and kept me much, much safer. I could have ended up another statistic of alcohol.

— Can you give me one good reason to override the bill in Missoula County from 2006 that decreased the priority of marijuana. I bet you can’t. Fred, we feel you are wasting time with this bill, and you should be doing more productive things while you are on the tax payers dime. The cannabis smoking tax payer. There’s more of us than you think.

— Watching you get stuff done on the Hill is like watching paint dry. So slow… It’s a good thing you don’t get paid by the hour.

Here is the story that wouldn’t load about Indiana trying to introduce marijuana to save money. Umm yea, that’s one way to do it for sure. Not only would you save money, but you would actually make money.

— If you live in Montana, be sure to check out the Montana Legislature site. Stay informed and up to date with how they are messing with medical cannabis in Montana.

Washington is going to once again introduce a bill that would basically legalize marijuana and treat it like liquor. Sounds like a fantastic idea to me. Think of how much money you will make!

— Yes, we have a Hot Box Facebook group, you should join it and tell all your friends about it. Also be sure to follow us on Twitter and check out the YouTube page. There are lots of great informative talks from the MMGA conference and meetings.

— Email info@hotboxpodcast.com and leave us a message at 406.204.4687. We’ll see you Saturday live from the Compassion Centers of Montana.
