“We need the states and the attorney generals of the states to stand up for their rights as sovereign states.”

Welcome to episode 105 of the Hot Box marijuana podcast. Each week we discuss recent cannabis news, interesting marijuana related topics, and answer general questions about society. Join us each week live on Hot Box TV to participate in the live recording via our chat room. In this episode we would like to welcome distnguished LEAP member, Stephen Downing. The topic at hand is from this LEAP article about how YouTube ignored a question advocating marijuana legalization from a retired LAPD deputy chief of police that won twice as many votes as any other video question in the White House’s “Your Interview with the President” competition on the Google-owned site.

“Are you calling for a revolution?”

What is it the people want? What do We the People need? Basic necessities in order to survive? Of course. A comfortable standard of living? Sure, why not. The right to be treated equally regardless of race, color, or creed? You betcha. The right to pursue happiness and liberty in life? I wouldn’t have it any other way. The right to be treated like a second class citizen simply because we choose to smoke or ingest cannabis instead of the alternative? Ye… Nope. Wait, what? No? It seems we have a breakdown in communication here. We have all sorts of amazing, unalienable rights as citizens of this great country, yet a huge number of us are incarcerated each and every day for choosing a less harmful alternative than what the major mainstream companies are trying to shove down our throats. Do I understand this correctly? Is our great all knowing government actually saying that if WE choose to treat OUR bodies with cannabis because cannabis works for US, and works with a LOT less side effects that are a LOT LESS HARMFUL, we instantly cross that threshold from good wholesome law abiding tax paying citizen to worthless second class criminal drug addict? Wow. Think about it. Think about the hypocrisy, and the disinformation they spread. Think about all the good people who’s lives are wasted, not because they did something evil or hurt someone, but because our government thinks it knows best how we should be taking care of our bodies.

“A politician doesn’t know anything but their issue, and nobody wants to make medical marijuana their issue.”

The Hot Box proudly presents to you, episode 99 of our medical marijuana talk show. We started this show back in May of 2010 intent on educating the people and spreading the good word of marijuana. We’ve met a lot of cool people in the process who are fighting tooth and nail, pouring their every waking moment to help the medical marijuana industry move forward. It’s great to see so many smart, well motivated people focused on fixing the massively ugly, waste of money and resources mistake that is the war on drugs. One of those people on the forefront each and every day is the MTCIA’s own Ed Docter. Ed is a man of vision and drive, putting thousands of miles on his own personal vehicle to visit every single medical marijuana business in the great state of Montana. Between him, and the rest of the team that makes up the MTCIA, and all of the patients, providers, and common people such as myself in this great industry, we are getting things done. It’s a slow and steady process, but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Although Caesar was murdered towards the end of one. The government should take great care in how they continue to address the people involved in this industry.

We are not second class citizens. We are not criminals. We are hard working honest every day people that keep this great country of ours going. If you continue to treat us like criminals and put us in jail, or break into our businesses during normal hours of operation just to steal money and cannabis, you are going to start a civil war you will not win. No body will win. Every life lost, every family member incarcerated, every dollar that gets spent on fighting this legal battle, takes away money and able bodies from the community it lives and thrives in. You cannot win, because we have the truth on our side. You have lied, but now we control the flow of information. It’s better to stop now, apologize, reschedule, and end this silly war on drugs before things go too far. Though some of us would say things are far passed that point. It’s up to you. Get links on how you can help support the movement after the break.
